Thomas Tuchel was reportedly eager to keep Tino Anjorin at Chelsea this season before he joined Lokomotiv Moscow on loan. This is according to football.london, who claim the German coach had aspirations of working with Anjorin for the term.Tuchel had been impressed by the teenager’s performances in training following his takeover from Frank Lampard in January.Although Anjorin hardly stepped foot on the pitch for the first team, he was regularly involved with the seniors at Cobham. “He’s confident, he’s strong, he’s creative. He scores a lot of goals and assists a lot of goals in training,” said Tuchel last month about the academy graduate. However, the young midfielder clearly felt his progression would be best served away from Stamford Bridge. Tino time His move to Lokomotiv was confirmed earlier today, a deal that could involve a permanent £17m (football.london) transfer in January.

Chelsea player ratings vs Liverpool: Silva, Christensen and Rudiger star in defensive clinic

Image
Edouard Mendy Since the appointment of Thomas Tuchel in January, there have been several games in which the Senegal international has been a virtual bystander. This wasn't one of those games. Throughout the 90 minutes, Mendy was kept busy but he stood up to most of what Liverpool had to offer. He had no chance with the penalty converted by Mohamed Salah, however. 8 Cesar Azpilicueta Chelsea's most experienced defender was needed throughout the first half; one clearance denied Sadio Mane an easy finish. Azpilicueta also led the rage towards Anthony Taylor after Reece James' red card. The Spaniard played at right wing-back in the second period and defended well against Mane and closed off any space between himself and Andreas Christensen. 8 In the middle of the back three or on its right, Christensen didn't put a foot wrong. He stepped in when required, got his body in the way when needed, and was composed on the ball. He's become vital. 9 Antonio Rudiger There were...

I LET MY FOOTBALL DO THE TALKING’ – LUKAKU REVEALS WHAT MATTERS MOST TO HIM

Image
The time for talking is over. That’s Romelu Lukaku’s message on the day he could play his first Chelsea game in eight years. Understandably in the week he finished quarantine after joining the Blues, there has been plenty of media interest in the striker. Lukaku has answered questions about his fitness, his relationship with Thomas Tuchel, and how he plans on connecting with his new team-mates on and off the pitch. When it comes to his focus now, though, the Belgian is steely-eyed about what he wants to achieve at Stamford Bridge. It is collective not personal triumphs he is targeting. ‘I don’t talk about individual records and stuff like that because that’s not me, the only thing I talk about is winning,’ Lukaku said. ‘That’s the thing that matters to me. All the rest is nice but winning is the most important thing. ‘I don’t look forward too much. I’ve never been a guy who talks about personal ambitions. I’ve always tried to just work hard on the training pitch, and then at the e...

Nuno Tavares, Albert Sambi Lokonga and Ben White have already been signed, sealed and delivered with the Gunners splashing a combined fee of £73m to bring the trio to north London. However, Friday night's 2-0 loss to Brentford in the opening game of the new Premier League season further exposed a problem that could stop Arsenal from mounting a top-four - or perhaps more realistically - top-six challenge this term. PROMOTED STORIES Creativity and goals from midfield, mainly the lack of it, was the main issue for manager Mikel Arteta and technical dire...

Lukaku can fire Chelsea to Premier League glory

Image
Romelu Lukaku will end Chelsea's wastefulness in front of goal and elevate Thomas Tuchel's side into Premier League title contenders. The Belgian has returned to Stamford Bridge in a club-record deal worth £97.5m.The signing of Romelu Lukaku will surely make that a reality. The Blues' record in cup competitions has been an impressive one of late, adding the European Super Cup to their collection this week. But to achieve success across a 38-game season entails different demands. To become league champions requires a relentless consistency, winning week in, week out. But while they've pulled off brilliant performances in one-off games, Chelsea's wastefulness in front of goal has meant they've been unable to match the standards set by Premier League winners Manchester City and Liverpool in recent seasons.

Chelsea's Tammy Abraham buy-back clause as striker flies to Roma to complete transfer

Image
Tammy Abraham has flown to Italy to complete a £34m move to Roma. Chelsea striker Abraham, 23, was reluctant to move abroad but was convinced to go to Serie A after talks with Roma boss Jose Mourinho. Abraham has now agreed a five year deal worth in excess of £100,000-a-week plus add-ons which he hopes will bolster his chances of getting back in the England squad. Chelsea have demanded a buy-back option for double the original fee - but that will not kick in until the summer of 2023. That will allow Chelsea to get Abraham back for a fixed price should he score the goals to prove them wrong.
